Skin Cancer
Understanding Skin Cancer
In Australia, the management of skin cancers represents a significant part of most plastic surgery practices. In some cases, simple skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) can be safely treated in the office setting. Others may require more complex surgical management including appropriate reconstruction after cancer removal. In cases of advanced skin cancers, plastic surgeons work as part of a multi-disciplinary team which may include oncologist and radiation specialists.
At Eastern Plastic Surgery, our plastic surgeons provide specialist care for skin lesions of all varieties, including benign, pre-malignant and malignant lesions. We work closely with local GP practices and dermatologists, as well as oncology specialists, in providing continuing care ranging from diagnosis and treatment, through to ongoing surveillance and scar management.
