Our fee structure also follows the recommended guidelines set out by the Australian Medical Association.
Consultation Fee
- Our standard consultation fees range between $250-350.
- A Medicare rebate of approximately $86 may be available for medical consultations if you have been referred by your family doctor and hold a valid Medicare card.
- Your Medicare claim can be lodged electronically by our staff, and will be processed by Medicare to your nominated bank account.
- A special rate is available for pensioners.
- Sometimes, a small additional fee is charged for an extended consultation, or where a small procedure (such as a skin punch biopsy) is performed at the same time.
- All medical and cosmetic surgery consultations require a valid referral.
Overall Cost Of Surgery
(Private Hospital)
Generally, the overall fees for surgery includes several components:
- Specialist Surgeon fees, which includes the routine post-operative follow up for six weeks. See section below.
- The anaesthetist’s fee.
- The hospital or day surgery fee.
- Pathology (where applicable).
- Other costs may include cost of implants, prosthesis, etc.
Surgical Fees
(Private Hospital)
- For privately insured patients, your private insurance may cover a portion of your medical fees depending on your level of cover.
- The remainder, also known as the “gap” correlates to the provisions of specialist healthcare that are not covered by either Medicare nor Private Health Insurance.
- The amount of the “gap” varies depending on the nature and complexity of the surgery. In all instances, a written estimate is provided prior to the procedure being scheduled.
- An estimate of fees will be provided to you following your consultation with the surgeon. You will then be able to establish your coverage with your health fund.
- We would strongly recommend all patients check with their private health fund to establish whether other costs may apply.
Cosmetic Procedures
- Cosmetic procedures eg. Meloplasty (Facelift), Lower Blepharoplasty (Lower Eyelid Surgery) do not qualify for a rebate from Medicare or your private health insurance. These procedures are considered self insured or self funded as they are cosmetic in nature.
- In these cases, an estimate of fee’s will be provided following your consultation with the surgeon.
- All cosmetic surgery consultations require a valid GP referral.
