Biography
Dr Tam Quinn (MED0001217095) Registered Medical Practitioner, Specialist Plastic Surgeon (specialist registration in surgery-plastic surgery)
Dr Tam Quinn graduated from Monash University in 2008 before undergoing specialty training in both general surgery and plastic surgery, during which she rotated through a number of hospitals including St Vincent’s Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. In 2020 she was recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as a specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
Following this, she undertook further subspecialty training in Burns surgery at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and visited the Burns Unit at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London were she developed an interest in complex scar management. She also completed a fellowship in Head and Neck surgery and reconstruction at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney, one of the busiest and highly regarded head and neck units in Australia. During her time in Sydney, she was also involved in the treatment of melanoma patients through the Melanoma Institute of Australia.
Tam has a special interest in complex facial reconstruction and particularly in the treatment of facial palsy. She underwent an observership in the United Kingdom, visiting the Facial Palsy units at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London and the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, learning about the surgical and non surgical management of facial palsy.
She is a strong believer in the importance of a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to the management of all patients and understands how crucial this is to the best possible patient outcomes.
Tam is passionate about teaching and is involved in supervising trainees, junior doctors and medical students at her various public appointments. She is also an instructor for the Emergency Management of Severe Burns course and the ASSET course, and is frequently involved in surgical workshops at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Tam is the Head and Neck clinical lead at Box Hill Hospital and at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and is a Burn surgeon at The Alfred Hospital.
