What is Meloplasty?
Meloplasty, commonly known as a facelift, is a surgical procedure designed to address signs of ageing in the face and neck. This surgery involves lifting and tightening the underlying muscles and tissues of the face to reduce sagging and improve skin quality, providing a more refreshed and natural appearance.
What are the Benefits of Meloplasty (Face Lift)?
Facelift surgery offers several benefits for those seeking to address signs of facial ageing. Benefits include:
- Reduction of sagging skin in the mid and lower face
- Smoothing of deep creases or wrinkles in the cheeks extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Diminishing creases below the lower eyelids
Improvement in the appearance of jowls along the jawline - Enhanced muscle tone and reduction of laxity in the midface and chin area
- Reduction of redundant skin and creases in the neck
Am I a Good Candidate for a Facelift in Melbourne?
You may be a good candidate for facelift surgery if you have noticeable signs of ageing, such as sagging skin, deep wrinkles, or loss of muscle tone in the face and neck. It’s essential to have realistic expectations and understand that while facelift surgery is effective and long-lasting, it does not stop the natural ageing process.
In some cases, non-surgical treatments might be a more suitable option. During your consultation, Dr Lin will provide you with a suggested treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Meloplasty in Melbourne with Eastern Plastic Surgery
Consultation
Your initial consultation will involve a comprehensive assessment by one of our specialist plastic surgeons to discuss your aesthetic goals, review your medical history and determine the most suitable facelift procedure for you.
Procedure
Facelift surgery is performed under general anaesthetic, typically taking 3-4 hours. Incisions are usually made around the front of your ears, extending around the back to your hairline. Drain tubes and/or bulky dressings may be used while you are in the hospital. To ensure your safety, we routinely use antibiotics, surgical stockings and calf compressors to reduce the risks of blood clots.
Recovery
There will be some bruising around the facial area. The extent of bruising can vary significantly depending on the nature of the surgery performed.
- 1 to 2 nights in hospital stay is usually required.
- Be prepared for at least 2 weeks of recovery before returning to some social and work commitments.
- The total “downtime” following facelift surgery will vary depending on the nature of the surgery.
- Scar management is an integral part of the recovery process following any surgery to help scars mature and fade.
As a part of our commitment to the highest quality surgery and after-care, we provide a specialist scar management consultation with our in-house dermal therapist, who will recommend a treatment regimen that is tailored to your individual needs.
How much does Facelift surgery cost in Melbourne?
The cost of facelift surgery can vary depending on individual factors, including the complexity of the procedure and whether it is performed in combination with other treatments. Following a consultation with one of our specialist plastic surgeons, you will be provided with a personalised treatment plan and a detailed estimate of the associated fees.
