Referral details, accepted conditions and practical information for clinicians referring patients to Dr Brad Bidwell.
Urgent Referrals
If there is any concern regarding the urgency of a patient’s condition, we ask that this is clearly highlighted in the referral letter. Dr Bidwell will review and triage all referrals and will prioritise patients appropriately to ensure they are seen as promptly as possible.
If you have any concerns or would like to discuss a specific case, GPs are welcome to contact the clinic or Dr Bidwell directly. He is always happy to discuss individual patients and provide guidance where required.

About Dr Bidwell
FRACS, PhD, MBBS, Grad. Dip. (Anat.), BSc. (Hons)
Dr Bidwell holds a research doctorate in breast cancer biology from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre alongside his fellowship surgical qualifications. He completed his RACS surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincents Hospital Melbourne, followed by a two-year fellowship in colorectal, robotic and complex hernia surgery at University Hospital Geelong and Epworth Hospital Geelong.
He is the Clinical Director of Surgery at Northeast Health Wangaratta and has been practising in the region since 2023. His subspecialty interests include breast cancer surgery, colorectal surgery, advanced hernia repair and minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
Fees & Billing
All procedures performed in hospital are no-gap for patients with appropriate private health insurance.
A small out-of-pocket fee applies for consultations. Any fee for in-rooms procedures will be discussed with the patient before proceeding.
Public Patients: Patients without private health insurance can be seen through the public system at Northeast Health Wangaratta or Benalla Hospital where appropriate. Please indicate this in your referral letter.
